Not Your Standard Snow Cone: Japanese Style Shaved Ice in Missoula

We are suckers for some good shaved iced. Luckily for us, a new local food truck Kakigōri Bar, is serving up Japanese-style shaved ice desserts with fun seasonal flavors.

Forget crunchy snow cones that are basically crushed ice in a cup, Kakigōri is fluffy, creamy and reminiscent of Hawaiian shaved iced.

Sister and brother duo, Jess and Trevor, have brought Kakigōri to the mountains. They use a hand cranked machine to slice a block of ice thinner than freshly fallen snow, before adding a delicious variety of toppings.,

They currently offer three different flavors can, which change daily. The night we were there, they had pumpkin, horchata, and mint melon on the menu. Obviously we ordered one of each (for science), and can honestly say they were each amazing. We are already planning our next visit.
