Construction Birthday Party Inspiration

Construction themed birthday parties tap into everything young kids love: dirt, trucks and tools. Plus, it works great at a park OR an indoor venue, which is a necessity with unpredictable Montana weather. I admittedly, go a little overboard for my kid’s birthdays. But I try to focus on few presents and utilizing things that can go home with us in lieu of gifts. I also try to pick a theme where I can incorporate things already found around our house.

The birthday boy’s main present was an adorable “construction worker” dress up outfit. Not only did it make for a cute outfit for the day of, but it has gotten lots of use in the year’s since. We ordered it off of Amazon here: https://amzn.to/2NX3sdW.


Activities:

I bought a sheet of foam insulation board and a bag of golf tees, and rounded up all of the little toy hammers and tools from around our house. The kids loved practicing hammering the golf tees in and generally destroying the foam board. We also filled a cheap inflatable kiddie pool with sand bags bought from Ace Hardware. We loaded it with all of our trucks, construction vehicles and toys from home. The kids had a blast, and the clean up was (mostly) worth it.

The Food:

We made up dirt cups with chocolate pudding and crushed Oreos.

We used this kid sized wheel barrow that a relative had given us the previous Christmas to put the ice and drinks in. Not only was it cute, it was functional! Lil’ True Temper Wheel Barrow: amzn.to/3300wT1
