Cooking with Kids: Super Bowl

Untitled Design.png

The Super Bowl is this Sunday (Go Chiefs!), and whether you’re hosting a big shindig for everyone you know or attending a gathering in front of someone’s else’s TV, you’ll likely need some extra hands to prepare. Never fear, if you’ve got kids, you’ve got helpers. We’ve compiled three recipes that kids of all ages will love to help with!

Easy enough for littles:

Baking Sheet Nachos

INGREDIENTS:
Tortilla Chips
Shredded Chicken
Ground Beef
Taco Seasoning
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Sour Cream
3 Ripe Avocados
Guacamole Seasoning
Olives, peppers, onions, tomatoes

DIRECTIONS:
1. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Have your child use a potato masher (or their clean hands) to mash avocado, stirring in guacamole seasoning once avocado is mashed.
3. Meanwhile, shred chicken. I like to use a deboned rotisserie chicken. Use taco seasoning to flavor chicken.
4. Brown ground beef. Add taco seasoning to flavor beef.
5. Spread tortilla chips on sheet pan in an even layer. Have your child help top chips with shredded cheddar cheese.
6. Top with shredded chicken and cooked beef. Add olives, peppers, and onions to your liking
7. Place in oven for 7-10 minutes until cheese is melted.
8. Have your child top nachos with sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and other toppings
