“Bye Bye” Bagels on Broadway and “See You Soon” Morning Birds Bakery!

Long time Missoula staple Bagels on Broadway has closed its doors, and while it may be the end of an era, another local favorite may be picking up the slack soon!

The iconic local bagel shop that was started in 1993 has been a favorite for decades, so we were sad to see their doors locked, website gone and their social media pages inactive recently. Before you mourn too much, might there be hope that your favorite bagels may see the light of day?

Morning Birds Bakery announced yesterday that they are moving into the former Bagels on Broadway location! Morning Birds has been a fixture at the Clark Fork Market for years, serving up their amazing cruffins, maple bacon twists and other sweet and savory pastries. In 2020, they opened their brick and mortar store on the corner of Reserve and Spurgin, which was a welcome addition to the neighborhood, that has seen more than one eatery come and go from that spot (RIP Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Carver’s Deli).

According to their instagram, Morning Birds Bakery hopes to be open in their new location at 223 W. Broadway around the end of January and will have not only have more room, but will be serving up more food options including bagels, pastries and cake.

I don’t know how we’ll survive the next month with no cruffins AND no bagels, but we are excited for the new and improved treats coming to downtown in 2023!
