Monday, October 25:

  • 3:30pm Lego Club at the Missoula Public Library

  • 2:00pm Spooky Science at SpectrUM Discovery Area

    Join spectrUM for guided science activities at our Discovery Bench from 2 to 6 Tuesday through Saturday. This week's theme is spooky science. No registration required.   • 4:00 Youth Beginner Fencing Classes (registration required)

    Youth Beginner Class ( Ages 10-14)
    Our beginner classes welcome anyone new to the sport as well as those who have not fenced in a while and want a refresher. Basics of fencing footwork, bladework, tactics, and strategy are taught through this 6 week course. After completion of the beginner class, fencers are ready to move to our intermediate Level 2 classes. Cost of class includes club-owned USA Fencing approved fencing gear during class enrollment and a fencing glove for the student to keep. Thursday, October 28:

  • 10:00AM MiniNaturalists with the Montana Natural History Center: Dates: Every Thursday, September – May
    Time: 10:00-11:00 am Cost: Free with cost of admission (and free for members!)
    Location: Montana Natural History Center, 120 Hickory Street
    We are currently holding this program outdoors only in our Nature Adventure Garden on the east side of the building. The miniNaturalist program encourages curiosity for the natural world through exploration and play. We sing songs, read books, play games, and develop skills with art and science tools. Each program begins with songs, movement, and stories. We then provide materials for learner directed discovery in our garden. We look for bugs and birds, color on rocks, build with branches, experiment with science tools and play with a variety of art materials. Best for ages 2-4 though any age is welcome!

  • 3:30 - 5:30 Clay Date for Kids at the Clay Studio: For youth ages 5 and up, $30 per child, 3:30 - 5:30PM Spend an afternoon at the Clay Studio making a fun project! A chance to meet new friends and make a unique project out of clay! Our instructor will walk the group through a project, which will be fired and glazed to be returned about 3 weeks after the workshop.   • 6:30pm Unseen Screams and Spirits Missoula by the Roxy and Missoula Downtown:

    Enjoy a chilling exploration into Missoula’s haunted history, featuring dozens of ghostly encounters and inexplicable tales. This walking tour starts in front of The Roxy Theater and takes approximately 90 minutes. As this is a Halloween tour, its recommended to dress warm for the cool evening weather (costumes are optional but always welcome!), with comfortable walking shoes as this tour covers about two miles.   • 1:00pm Spooky Photo Booth & Kids Activities at the Montana Natural History Museum

    Drop by the Montana Natural History Center between 1:00-3:00 p.m. to take a spooky Halloween photo with our museum specimens! Our photo booth will be set up outside on our porch and out of the elements. You can stand in front of the black back drop and pose with a variety of different specimens gleaned from the museum: skulls and bones, pelts, taxidermy mounts, and more. Come in costume for an even greater effect. Montana Natural History Center volunteers will be on hand to help take a photo of you with your phone or camera. Simply apply a filter for a black and white finish or dramatic coloring and you have an instant and totally unique nature inspired Halloween photo! We will also have a skull identification table set out- test your skills and win a piece of candy! And our museum will be open with it’s new exhibit: Montana’s Ancient Past.

    Drop in any time between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. for a hands-on kids’ activity. October 30: Creatures of the Night
    Join us as we learn about the creatures of the night, just in time for Halloween! What secrets do they use to help them in the dark? What senses do they rely on?

  • 3:00pm Teen D&D Guild at the Missoula Public Library

    Are you stuck at home, yearning to satisfy your appetite for adventure? MPL offers Dungeons & Dragons online for teens aged 12-17. Beginners are welcome! Limited to 8 participants per session. If you're interested in joining, please contact us at bdoyle@missoula.lib.mt.us and we can help you get started! Teen games will be held every other Saturday from 3-5 PM online.

  • 6:00pm Enchanted Forest 2021 with Missoula FreeCycles

    Join non-profit arts and education organization Turning the Wheel for our annual family-friendly event designed to bring the magic and wonder back into the Halloween season. This year's event will be an enchanted forest outside around a bonfire, where you will encounter mystical characters sharing stories, a guided drum circle, music, warm elixers, a costume parade (share yours!) and an altar to leave notes of appreciation to your ancestors. A food truck will be on the premises should you need to nosh! Tickets are limited so that we can keep spaciousness among the crowd, so reserve yours early!   • 5:00pm Missoula Firefighters Halloween Trick or Treat

    Swing by your neighborhood Missoula Fire Department Station on Halloween from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Firefighters will be handing out candy and safety items to kids trick or treating. Those kids dressed as firefighters will receive a special gift. Note: crews may be out responding on calls.
