6 Family Friendly Pride Activities You Might Not Know About

This weekend, Missoula becomes awash in rainbows and festivities as the town celebrates the freedom to live their gender and sexual identity with pride. Missoula Pride, hosted by the Western Montana LGBTQ+ Community Center, has events for people of all ages, but not every event is appropriate for all ages. Here’s some of our favorite family friendly events listed on the Pride website:

Friday, June 16 7-9 p.m.

Tell Us Something is an evening of storytelling featuring various Missoula LGBTQ+ storytellers who crafted their tales based on the community selected theme "Neighbors”. Each storyteller regales the crowd in a creative and dynamic way, ensuring a fun night of entertainment for you and your kids. This event takes place at Ogren field, 700 Cregg Ln, Missoula, (where the Paddleheads play). Tickets are $20 day of show. Click "Details" for tickets. You can also buy Pride merchandise at the event.

Trans Youth Space with TransvisibleMT: Join TransvisibleMT at the Zootown Arts Community Center Classroom for snacks, drinks, and fun. Kids and teenagers of all ages are welcome and encouraged to come by and give organizers their input on possible, Trans, Non-Binary, and Two-Spirit youth events in the near future, or just come by and relax from all the Pride fun! Get ready for the biggest and mostly brightly colored parade Missoula has ever seen! This is the second annual Pride Parade in Missoula and its event that won’t soon be forgotten. The parade begins at 1 p.m. (set up begins at 11 a.m.) and the route is along Higgins and Main streets.

Saturday, June 17 at 2 p.m.

The Block Party: Immediately following the Pride Parade, Pride is hosting a block party, with an even larger enclosed area to enjoy 50+ non-profit, information, and vendor booths, 5+ food trucks, a full bar, and music from GFlip, Mija, DJ Craze, Transcendental Express and Mic Mercury. The block party will encompass Main Street, Orange Street, Higgins and Ryman. This event goes until 10:30 p.m. You might want to get your kids to bed before then!
